Construction is progressing on the Carrum to Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail link – a 90 km shared use pathway that will link the bayside suburb of Carrum to the Warburton Rail Trail head at Lilydale.

There is only 10 kilometres of pathway to be completed between Baywater and Lilydale, with an anticipated finish date of March 2019.

The path between Carrum and Bayswater is now open, with wayfinding signage and pedestrian crossings in place.

This $7.4 million project is funded by the Victorian Government and is greatly appreciated by trail users in the Yarra Valley community and by all cyclists looking for long-range cycling routes into the region.

Benefits of this link include:

  • A safer and more direct route for pedestrians and cyclists travelling through the area.
  • Increased travel options for commuters.
  • Reduced need for cyclists to travel on road from Bayside to Lilydale.
