Crafting a perfect beer right now in the Yarra Valley! Yes you heard correctly, the Yarra Valley, home to some of the best wines in Australia is also the heartland of craft beers. 

With all the flair the Yarra Valley wine industry is renowned for, the craft beer breweries offer a stellar range of beers that feature a similar high regard for quality ingredients, with an eye for perfection, solid good taste and something a little bit unique.

With a beer for any time of the year, any time of the week and any time of the day, it’s worth devoting a couple of hours (weeks, days…lifetimes!) to some tasty testing.

Watts River Brewing, Healesville

Watts River Brewing are two families of mad keen brewers, passionate about creating great beer. A small, fiercely independent brewery right in the heart of the Yarra valley. The results can be sampled at their cellar door in Healesville. Step inside a working brewery and find one of the family behind the bar or checking on the ferments in beautiful stainless steel tanks or oak barrels.

A special shout out also to the Ciao Yarra Valley Ciao Festival beer, brewed exclusively by Watts River Brewing.

Detour Beer, St Huberts

Take a detour – via beer! Established in 2019 as the perfect ‘knock-off’ beer, Detour is all about the refined and satisfying drink you reach for at the end of the day. With a back story of 70- years and several generations of the Napoleon family, Detour has set about taking beer inia new direction – right in the heart of the Yarra Valley. Coldstream Brewery, Coldstream

The Coldstream Brewery has four standard beers and two ciders available on tap for tasting and take-away, short run limited release beers are available each season so there's always a reason to drop back.

Hop Hen, Lilydale

A hobby gone mad. When you visit Hop Hen brewery, you will be able to enjoy a fresh beer or two made only metres from your seat. They have a core range including Aussie Ale, American Pale Ale, Dark Mild and IPA and offer seasonal and one-off brews as well.

The Public Brewery, Croydon

You make the beer!  Yes, get hands on and brew your own bespoke beer just the way you like it at the Public Brewery.
