Yippee! It’s school holidays and two whole weeks of fun stretches out in front of us. There’s no time for sleep ins (well ok, maybe just one or two!) because there’s so much to do in the Yarra Valley, Dandenong Ranges and Nillumbik this school holidays.

School holidays are go! At Healesville Sanctuary experience the new Lost Sanctuary. Make your way through the wild forest to discover giant animatronic dinosaurs and megafauna around every corner! There's plenty to keep both big and little dino lovers entertained.

  • Step back in time and explore stories of extinction 
  • Meet the  Mega Keepers and learn how they train and care for these unruly beasts
  • Walk in the footprints of a T-Rex
  • Hold your nose and get involved in some dino poop identification
  • Uncover and identify bones in the down and dirty Dino Dig
  • Visit the Dino pop-up shop for a prehistoric souvenir 
  • Find out how you can help Helmeted Honeyeaters by creating habitat for these critically endangered birds
  • And always be on alert for the Velociraptor on the loose!

Blue Lotus Watergarden

Magical lily pads, secret hideaways and 14 acres of stunning lotus flowers provide plenty of delight for the little ones. Fairies definitely live here. And for the big kids there are special holiday classes including – Photography, Paper Craft and Bush Craft (bookings required).  Plus plenty of other fun kid’s activities including face painting, fairy story time and more. Easter egg hunts too!

Sweet treats for sweet kids taste all the better when they are ‘made by ME mum’.  Become a Junior Chocolatier In a 45-minute Junior Chocolatier Class held in our ‘parent free zone’, children aged 6 – 12 years can learn from real life chocolatiers how to make their very own chocolate creations.

SkyHigh Easter children's holiday fun

The fun activities and games change every day at SkyHigh, so make sure you check the daily activities and times on their website. If you’re a kid you can meet animals up close, take part in treasure hunts, enjoy a pony ride, some music, the famous Maze or mini golf. And if you’re a parent or carer, there’s a wine and dine experience for you to enjoy while the kids have awesome fun – ‘cos why should you miss out?

All the activities are free of charge and for children 5- 12 years old.  (Not the wine though, you definitely need to be over 18 for that!)

Edendale Community Environment Farm 

Free daily activities all school holidays including Eye Spy, Quests, Origami, displays and meet the animal sessions. Kids can participate in the Young Farmers sessions and help with morning chores with the animals – just like a real farmer. Wildlife and environmental education without even realising it! Catch a coffee in the café and give country life a go. The Diamond Valley railway is close by for budding engineers to have a ride too.
