The four-day festival will celebrate the Yarra Valley’s rich brewing history and many of the amazing local craft brewers and small batch cider makers of today. The history of beer in the Yarra Valley is believed to go back to the early 1800s when growing hops was a major farming activity in the region. The Valley also lays claim to being the birthplace of Australian Champagne cider; cider made in the ‘Methode Traditionnelle’ style (you can even sample some at Hop Fest – head to the St Ronan’s stall).
Set amongst the beautiful grounds and native wildlife of Healesville Sanctuary, visitors to Hop Fest can meet the makers and sample their brews in two exclusive event spaces, with tastings from Hargreaves Hill, Watt's River Brewing, Coldstream Brewery, Got Ya Back, Napoleone, St Ronan's Cider and Cherry Hill Orchards.
Complementing the diverse and fun range of beers and ciders on offer Sanctuary Harvest, of Kitchen & Butcher, have put together a menu full of gourmet-style street food. Think sticky ribs, soft salted pretzels, pulled pork tacos and more. For all the non-beer drinkers out there – never fear – the team at Chandon will be pouring their new take on the classic champagne cocktail ‘Chandon S’ at the pop-up Sparkling Bar every day of the festival. Live music from local musicians, giant lawn games, a roving puppeteer, and of course, close-up encounters with your favourite furry, feathered and scaly friends, round out an incredible long-weekend day out!
All tickets sales from Hop Fest help Healesville Sanctuary fight wildlife extinction. Just like we love our local brews, we also love our local wildlife. All proceeds from Hop Fest will support Zoos Victoria’s efforts to save the Brush-tailed Rock Wallaby from extinction.
Healesville Sanctuary is just a one hour drive from Melbourne CBD through the beautiful Yarra Valley wine country.
Tickets to Hop Fest include entry to Healesville Sanctuary, all beer and cider tastings, a souvenir Hop Fest tasting glass, access to two exclusive event zones, live music, games and entertainment.
*while Monday isn’t officially a Victorian Public Holiday we know there will be folks out there looking for something fun to do so we are running the event over four consecutive days!
