Regional Worlds Longest Lunch – Gembrook
An Argentinian feast alongside a heritage-listed railway

'A Chef, A Train and A Lemon Tree': Join Chef Mauro Callegari for an Argentinian feast alongside the Puffing Billy Railway line at the historic Gembrook Station.

Located one hour from Melbourne, this quiet and picturesque part of the Victoria hosts the one of the Melbourne Food and Wine festival long lunches. This amazing setting will see you surrounded by 200-year-old sky-high pines in the heritage listed station grounds dating circa 1900’s.

Meet at The Independent for a Melbourne gin cocktail and canapes in the sunny courtyard. Then, stroll three minutes to the station grounds and take your seat at the grand table – with Puffing Billy steaming in to join the day.

Local beverages will be matched with to a Argentinian style sharing menu featuring lemons grown in the nearby orchards. The main course will be The Independent's 'asado' beef short ribs, chimmichurri, local potatoes, finishing with a lemon trifle for dessert.

Whilst the produce is to be locally sourced, the lively music and entertainment will carry a South American feel. Continue on into the afternoon – stay and enjoy a cheeky night cap (afternoon cap!) back at the restaurant's bar.
