Take a stand to support women's cycling in Australia. The Ascent is the only dedicated women-only cycle event.
The Ascent is a women's only cycling event run by Victoria's Bicycle Network, that takes a stand on female diversity in cycling with a goal that women become 50% of all cyclist on the road in Australia. Held on closed roads, the fully supported event will be held in one of Victoria’s most well-loved riding destinations - The Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges, and will include the region's best cycle climbs, including the iconic 1 in 20.
Bicycle Network have gone the extra step in ensuring that traffic management and on-route support, all elements of The Ascent, have been planned with women in mind following its inaugural event during 2016.
However, as Bicycle Network is a non-profit organisation, they need more than just verbal support, but financial support. Through crowdfunding, the organisation needs to raise $195,000 or secure 2,000 event entries to cover the costs of running The Ascent ride.
