La terra promessa - The promised land of the Yarra Valley

Italian history, yarra valley, promised land

Italians have lived and worked in the Yarra Valley since the pioneer days and significantly were part of the district’s early wine industry and made up a large part of the workforce on the construction of the Silvan Dam, as well as running farms and businesses that contributed much to the area’s pre-WW2 agricultural industry.

The food they know and love

We’ve a high regard for food that is accessible, that people can truly understand and love. In a sense, it’s a ‘less is more’ philosophy where the food gets to speak for itself. We take the approach that harmony can be achieved with just a few ingredients that all shine.

The great Italian trilogy – pizza, wine and movie

Our Ciao Yarra Valley Ciao celebration brings together a fabulous pizza, a great wine and an Italian movie of your choice at The Memo in Healesville. Or take home a trilogy of Italian wines - Moscato, Arneis and Prosecco. Three great Italian experiences in one – a trilogy of Italy!

The simple pleasure of pasta

My passion is to see people enjoy pasta with a smile on their face. Simplicity and abundance are words I use often when I talk about ways to eat fresh pasta. I believe the pasta should be the hero. Simple accompaniments like a quality olive oil, fresh herbs from the garden, a grating of good parmesan. Let the ingredients speak.

Pizza for the people (with wine, of course)

pizza, Ciao Yarra Valley Ciao, Rockford Wines, Margherita

A glass of Rochford Pinot Noir with a Margherita pizza – that’s my preference. The two make perfect companions. The simplicity of the combination is the reason why it’s so good. A quality cheese, fresh basil, the wine. It’s what Italian food is all about.
