Ivory Tribe sits down with newlywed Melbourne couple, Elisa and Justin, to get the lowdown on why they chose the Yarra Valley
It’s no secret that Victorian-based wedding blog and directory, Ivory Tribe, adore the Yarra Valley and its abundance of stunning wedding venues. It’s so easy to tell why the region has lured many a bride and groom to be married on its beautiful landscape.
We think of the Yarra Valley as the ideal wedding escape, where couples celebrate their weddings over a weekend. Guests delight in being able to get away, switch off and indulge themselves in all the beautiful region has to offer. Ivory Tribe sat down with newlywed Melbourne couple, Elisa and Justin to get the lowdown on why they chose the Yarra Valley as the perfect wedding destination.
For Elisa and Justin, the Yarra Valley was the obvious location to celebrate their wedding day as it is a place that holds special meaning to them after Justin popped the question there also. Part of the overall appeal to them both was that the Yarra Valley ‘is just so intimate and beautiful’. They chose the historic property of Yering Station to host their wedding day.
‘We liked the option of having the ceremony either inside or outside under the trees depending on weather’ which is a wonderful option to have in Victoria’s unpredictable weather’, they said.
‘The architecture of Yering Station was memorable and contrasted with the lush foliage,’ and they were able to host the celebration of their dreams, opting for an intimately styled wedding for a small number of guests that they spoiled with local gourmet food and wine.
Their ceremony was such a highlight for them both and they created with their celebrant a ceremony that was both personal and memorable. It appealed to Elisa and Justin to enlist the help of Ivory Tribe and local vendors, Michael Briggs Photography and Red Earth Flowers.
‘Wherever possible we tried to book local vendors and Michael and Red Earth Flowers knew the area well and were able to give great advice’, they said.
The couple was beyond thrilled with the services from both Yarra Valley suppliers. With Michael’s relaxed nature, and his advice to have a ‘first look’ series of photos as well as stunning end results, Elisa and Justin felt Michael brought a great atmosphere to their wedding day. Red Earth Flowers also delivered stunning results creating bouquets and table arrangements that were more beautiful than bride Elisa could ever have imagined. They also used a local cake supplier from Little Red Wagon Cupcakes who’s sweet treats were both gorgeous and delicious.
Ultimately for Elisa and Justin, the best things about being married in the Yarra Valley was ‘the food and wine, the stunning scenery and access to amazing suppliers in the area’.
