Only an hour from Melbourne, the contemporary cellar door and glasshouse restaurant are the heart of the Dixons Creek site, with the restaurant boasting expansive views of the surrounding vineyards and beyond. The Mandala kitchen works with locally-sourced seasonal produce to create an ever-evolving menu of delicious, internationally influenced food. The restaurant is open for lunch from Wednesday to Sunday, and for dinner on Saturday evenings. Bookings are reccommended.
Established by the Smedley family in 1999, Mandala has two separate sites under vine, both producing varietals that excel in the region. The Dixons Creek site is home to sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, pinot noir, shiraz and cabernet sauvignon vines, while the Yarra Junction vineyard has been carefully selected for premium pinot noir production.
Mandala produces an Estate range and a Single-Site range of cool climate wines from two Yarra Valley vineyard sites. The Estate range comprises chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, rosé, pinot noir, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and sparkling Blanc de Blancs. Made only when vintage conditions are in complete harmony, Mandala's Single-Site range of wines are emblematic of a strong single-region, single-vineyard winemaking philosophy. The range now includes five varietal labels, each wine bearing its own icon representing a member of Mandala's founding Smedley family: 'The Compass' Chardonnay, 'The Prophet' Pinot Noir, 'The Matriarch' Pinot Noir, 'The Rock' Shiraz and 'The Butterfly' Cabernet Sauvignon.
Drop into the Dixons Creek cellar door for a tasting with the friendly and knowlegable staff. All current release wines are available to taste every day, and the single-site wines join the list on selected weekends. Back vintages and cellar door only releases are also available throughout the year.
The cellar door is open from 11am – 4pm weekdays, and from 10am – 5pm on weekends.
