Oscar’s on the Yarra has a long history of entertaining guests and is set in an extraordinary location. This boutique guesthouse is situated on 12 acres by the tranquil banks of the famous Yarra River. Be immersed in the quiet surrounds and experience the majesty of the mountains, escape the pace of daily life in the Yarra Valley.
Once inside, there is a perfect balance of warm country hospitality and 1920's glamour. The restaurant and accommodation wings have views of the mountains and lawns that cascade towards the riverbank.
All accommodation rooms have a balcony from which to enjoy the scenery and are beautifully appointed. There are 18 standard king rooms, 2 deluxe suites, 1 single room, and 1 two bedroom family apartment. Ensuites, bar fridges, balcony, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and breakfast are all standard inclusions. Oscar's on the Yarra partners with many local experience providers so bike hire, guided walks, wine tours, coffee or cheese tasting can be arranged.
All are welcome to the highly regarded restaurant for lunch and dinner Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and for group bookings at any time. Milestone birthdays, celebrations, weddings, community groups, friendship and special interest groups, retreats and art classes, to conferences, strategic planning sessions or product launches; all can be arranged. We have numerous lounges complete with open fireplace, function rooms or in the summertime, the balcony by the river is a treat.
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day Lunch, Valentine's Day, Burn's Night, Mothers Day, Fathers Day and New Year's Eve are all special occasions at Oscar's on the Yarra and are celebrated with special menus and entertainment.

All Nonnas know that 'homemade with love' tastes the best. So in the Italian tradition of good food and great wine, in fabulous company, join us to learn how to make traditional Italian cheeses with Pieter Tromp, Head Cheesemaker from Mill Grove Dairy. Then with Matt Dimech, Oscar's on the Yarra Head Chef, you'll learn how to transform them into a meal to share with your family. And naturally, your lunch (pranzo), dinner (cena) and dessert (il dolce) will all be matched with outstanding Yarra Valley wines.
Start your day in the Italian way, with locally roasted Silva Espresso and then Pieter will teach you how to make 3 kinds of cheese over the course of the day. He'll let you in on the secret of where to buy the best milk and cultures and all the tips you'll need to make cheese at home. You'll share lunch under the century-old Oak tree, right by the Yarra River, and maybe even wander over to meet Matilda, our resident cow.
After stretching mozzarella through the afternoon, you'll be ready to sip Prosecco and have some 'stuzzichini' on the balcony. While you're taking in the views, your cheeses will be transformed into mouthwatering meals and served in the dining room matched with Italian varietals grown here in our beautiful Yarra Valley. We'll teach you what to look out for when matching wines and introduce you to some you might not have tasted before.
Your day will begin at 10.30 am and dinner will be served at around 5.30 pm, so your day will finish when it finishes, as with all good dinner parties.
Cost: $250 pp. Included are the three cheeses that you make, espresso, lunch, canapes, dinner, dessert and wine matched with each course. Groups are limited to 10 people.
An accommodation package can be added for $150 per room (sleeps two) which includes breakfast the following morning.
Full price will be charged for the course if cancellation is required inside 48 hours, but the tickets are transferrable.
