In 1838, the Scottish-born Ryrie brothers settled in the Yarra Valley. They named their property Yering Station, incorporating the area’s aboriginal name, and planted Victoria’s first vineyard on the site. Wines from Yering Station reached early heights, winning a Grand Prix at the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris, the only prize awarded to a winery in the southern hemisphere. After changing hands several times throughout the twentieth century, Yering Station remains a family-owned winery committed to producing world class quality wines.

Today Yering Station produces a range of wines truly expressive of the Yarra Valley’s terroir including classics Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz Viognier, as well as sparkling wine released under the Yarrabank label. Recognised for its commitment to excellence, Yering Station was awarded the ‘International Wine Maker of the Year’ at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition in London and inducted into both the Victorian and Australian Tourism Awards ‘Hall of Fame’.

Yarra Valley Trails

We’ve all heard the mantra – ‘get back to nature’. That’s all very well, but what if you didn’t even start there? Does it still count? Sometimes we feel like all we’ve ever known is concrete footpaths, narrow streets and the familiar grind of garbage trucks every Thursday morning. So, driving through the gates of Yarra Valley Trails and breathing in the very real and full smells of lush country air, heavy with the warmth of horses, we felt transported to an alternate universe. Though fortunately, one that’s only an hour from Melbourne! Honestly, with the sun on my face, it was enough to bring out the country girl buried deep within this urban creature
